5 Reasons I Heart Flickr

It’s so hard to find an application you love… or heart. I think you heart things on the internet, and love them in real life? I guess we can solidify the definition later, but let’s try heart. Anyway, amongst the masses of web apps, finding the few you truly heart can be difficult. Even when you make think you heart one, you may lose interest shortly after signing up. Flickr however has been one that’s held strong for me. I always come back to it, and I haven’t been swayed to take my photos anywhere else. Not even cross post… So without further ado, I give you 5 reasons I heart Flickr. (oh by the way, 5 Reasons will be a series on Pixelspread from now, so just look for the tag and title)

1) It just works
Yes, that’s a mac slogan, but it’s true about flickr. It’s so rare that it doesn’t work! It’s not like Twitter, having to hit enter or update 10 or 20 times before it does. Upload your photos, show your friends and family, no problem!
2) It’s beautiful
For an app with so many feature and menus, the designers over at flickr have managed to keep the site pretty and usable. They make it look easy, but that’s the key.
3) Everything else works with it
Pretty much everywhere you go, you can find flickr addons, desktop clients, or integration. My flickr works everywhere, and it’s hard to argue with that!
4) Free accounts and Pro accounts.
For free accounts, they let you do pretty much everything. The only time you’d need more is if you were, say, a professional? And that’s where the pro accounts come in. With a pro account, you can basically forget about storing photos on your computer and just do it online, if you want. And something about making people pay just a little gets them to express a lot more time and interest in the site, which leads me to my last reason…
5) Everyone else hearts flickr too!
And by that I mean there is a great community of people who are enthusiastic about both photography AND flickr. If you ever want to see a beautiful photo of just about anything, I can’t think of a better place to go. Flickr is tops.

Now I’ll apologize for the 1,500 other reasons I didn’t come up with, because I’m sure they exist. But I’d hate to say they’re less important, so of course, that’s what the comments are for.
