If you head on over to the iTunes website, you’ll notice a headline iTunes Plus. That’s right, today is the day that iTunes will start selling DRM-free music on iTunes. This music will also be higher quality.
With this first step towards a world without DRM, I say we use our power, as iTunes users, music buyers, and educated people, to speed up this process. Starting today I’d like to start the DRM Boycott. Now that the ball has started to roll, and you have a great way to buy DRM-free music, why buy anything but? Let’s buy only music that is free to be used as we please, and forget about everything else. You can buy DRM-free from iTunes. You can get it from eMusic. Heck, you can buy it on CD! Just don’t buy that locked down crap! Let’s show the RIAA and the iron fist that is the music industry that we’re done with copy protection that has never worked.
