You can go read the press release from Apple about supporting development for the iPhone. Or you could save the time and just read this: they aren’t actually supporting development for the iPhone. Apple’s answer is to support web apps on Safari (which is a feature of the iPhone).
Just sounds like a pretty lame response from Apple. I don’t think anyone was really that worried about the iPhone supporting web apps. Wasn’t that kind of a given with a full featured browser? Basically they’ve just found a really nice way to candy coat no.
Hopefully with iPhone 2 we’ll see some support for third party applications, but come on Apple, if you’re not going to support third party aps, just say so!
