As I mentioned earlier, I felt like it was time I jumped back into writing about and exploring music online, so I figured I couldn’t start off a whole lot better than writing about one of my favorite bands that it seems no one has ever heard of. The first time I ever heard Rescue, was through the label Forge Again, which at the time was home to bands like Fordirelifesake and Wafflehouse*. The record was Volume Plus Volume and the song was titled “Hey Guy, Story of My Life, Ya Know?” which is still one of my favorite song titles ever. Their sound totally different than anything on the label’s roster. Totally different than anything I’d been listening to. After a thorough listening of Volume Plus Volume I was hooked.
Unfortunately after their latest release, Paranoid, the band parted ways. Despite the classic move of recording one last record and splitting, Paranoid did not disappoint by any means. It progressed and matured upon their sound. And I don’t mean like when a band calls their new sound “matured” meaning that they suck now. I mean they actually tried something new and succeeded in that.
Of course the best way to have an idea is take a listen to a track off of Paranoid called Breaking My Own Heart, and do some further investigation into their sound.
Haven’t heard of them but I’ll check it out when I get home from work. I like your blog btw, I need to learn how to design things.
Wow, I really liked that song a lot. I’m definitely going to check out more of their stuff. I see an iTunes purchase in the near future.
@Josh Paranoid is a great purchase. Great album to chill out and listen to all the way through. Their earlier stuff is a bit more involved, a little more out there, but some of the most interesting music I’ve ever heard.
fCommanders called out orders to aim anti-aircraft guns at the suspected source of hostile fire.
“Allahu Akbar!,” rebels shouted. They put up a brave face, but fear was evident.
“This is no game, this is serious,” said a rebel called Ahmed, carrying an ammunition belt, who sought cover on the floor.
The new day may yet look rather like the old one.
